Ages 10 to 19

The Canadian Orientation Abroad (COA) program, a pre-arrival orientation initiative provided by the International Organization for Migration, which provides visa-ready migrants with relevant, accurate, consistent and timely information needed to make informed settlement decisions.

This program is designed and developed specifically for refugee youth. The program delivers personalized pre-departure support for refugee youth (ages 10-19) preparing for settlement in Canada by providing information and connections to services in their city of destination.

Through a tailored suite of services, youth refugees will gain a greater understanding of life, settlement services, schools and education programs in Canada, and also have a more realistic understanding of the challenges they might face settling in Canada.

Our YMCA is one of four YMCAs in the country offering this program, with our focus being the Atlantic provinces.
