The YMCA in Nova Scotia stands in solidarity with the sectors and communities feeling the impact of the $130M provincial funding reductions.
Across our province, community organizations strengthen local economies, promote wellbeing, and help ensure that all Nova Scotians have opportunities to thrive.
We encourage you to stay informed, share your experiences, and engage constructively with your elected representatives about the importance of sustained investment in community wellbeing.
We are particularly concerned about the potential impacts these cuts will have on essential supports for children, families, newcomers, and equity‑denied communities; including women, racialized communities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, who are served by and employed within the Community Impact Sector.
Changes of this scale can have ripple effects across communities, especially for those already facing systemic barriers.
Our work does not happen in isolation.
We stand in solidarity with other sectors that are feeling the impact of these decisions, including public services, arts and culture organizations, and the African Nova Scotian and Mi’kmaw communities. Strong, connected sectors are essential to building vibrant and resilient communities across the province.
The YMCA in Nova Scotia remains committed to working collaboratively to ensure that Nova Scotians continue to have access to the supports and services they rely on.
